CitiMed Hospital Chitungwiza (formerly South Medical Hospital) opened its doors to the public on the 19th of November 1999. It is situated 30km South East of Harare in Chitungwiza.
The Hospital has 150 beds and has an accident and emergency unit that operates around the clock. CitiMed Chitungwiza is a member of the Private Hospitals Association and is in the Grade B category. The Hospital was initially owned by Southampton Life Assurance and its main function was to cater for lower end of the Chitungwiza community.
Strategies Holdings acquired the hospital from Southampton Life Assurance in 2002 then in 2009, Spiritage Health acquired the Hospital. Spiritage Health currently owns 60% of the hospital, while Patex owns 40%.
The hospital provides the following services: Training School, Admissions, Theatre, Radiology, Laboratory, Dental Unity, Martenity, Accident & Emergency, Pharmacy
